Dividers

Dividers are precision measuring tools that are used to measure distances between two points, mark out distances, or transfer measurements from one location to another. They consist of two pointed legs joined at a pivot point, which can be adjusted to set the distance between the points.

Dividers come in different sizes and designs, with the most common types being spring dividers and wing dividers. Spring dividers have a spring-loaded mechanism that allows for quick and easy adjustment of the distance between the points. Wing dividers, on the other hand, have flat legs that are wider than the pointed tips, which makes them more stable and less likely to move around during use.

Dividers are used in a variety of applications, including woodworking, metalworking, engineering, and machining. They are commonly used to mark out circles, arcs, and angles, as well as to measure distances between two points with high accuracy. Dividers can also be used to scribe lines on materials, such as metal or wood, which can be used as a guide for cutting or drilling.
